We, the people of Riverview United Church, will strive to worship God through maintaining the Christian way of life by upholding the common beliefs of the United Church. We will help to provide leadership, service, fellowship, Christian Education, stability, and security in the life of the community.

Riverview is a smaller congregation of dedicated people trying to figure out how to be the church in a time of change. We are strong supporters of church camping and even used to run our own camp. THe people are friendly and are always willing to invite you to our next meal (we like to eat). Our multi-purpose space allows for a great variety of uses--from Sunday worship to floor hockey if you wanted!

About the Service

Our regular service is every SUnday at 10:30 am. WE have a small Sunday School that meets at the same time. Our services tend to be fairly "traditional" (whatever that means).

About the Neighbourhood

Atikokan is a town of just over 3000 people in Northwestern Ontario (2 hours West-South-West of Thunder Bay). Formerly a mining community, the base is now forestry and hydro generation. And of course the wilderness. Our town motto is "Canoeing Capital of Canada", lakes are all over the place and the fishing is grand. Quetico Provincial Park, a wilderness (no motorized access) area, is right on our doorstep.

Quick Facts

Who do I contact with questions?

Give Gord or Heather a call on Tuesday or Thursday mornings. OR you could drop us an e-mail. See the contact info above.

What's heavenly about your church?

The people of course. ANd the food. We love to eat together.

What music is played during services?

Generally organ or piano. Our choir is small but mighty. And occassionally Gord will pull out his guitar. Maybe a drum will come soon!

How do people dress for service?

Well we do prefer that you wear clothes! Generally casual to dressy (more towards casual)

Where do people sit?

WE have no pews! THat's right, no uncomfortable wooden benches. Instead we have slightly more comfortable plastic chairs. And of course the front row always seems to have space...

What happens after the service?

Coffee, tea and "dainties" in the hall for those who want to stick around and chat an share a laugh or two.

Church Minister

Gord
